Role Overview
The Compliance Testing Intern will be part of the Compliance Testing team, reporting to the Manager, Compliance. The position entails a proactive approach to identifying risks, conducting control reviews, and ensuring compliance across various products and services.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Risk Identification in Pre-Planning Work
- Actively contribute to identifying potential risks associated with products and services during the pre-planning stages of compliance activities.
- Offer insights on areas needing further scrutiny to mitigate risks effectively.
- Checklist Preparation
- Develop detailed control checklists to assess compliance for both regulated and unregulated functions.
- Ensure these checklists comprehensively address all aspects of regulations and internal controls.
- Compliance Program Design and Execution
- Collaborate on designing work programs that aim to evaluate the organization’s compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Execute these programs diligently, adhering to established deadlines and ensuring comprehensive assessments.
- Stakeholder Interaction
- Engage with senior leadership, including business heads and compliance officers, to scope out controls and assess their design.
- Present findings clearly and propose actionable solutions to address identified control gaps or enhance current processes.
- Conduct Walkthroughs
- Formulate targeted questions to be asked during process walkthroughs.
- Take the lead in conducting these walkthroughs, ensuring critical information is collected and risks are noted.
- Control Identification
- Identify key controls during walkthroughs and assessments, particularly those related to the noted risks.
- Document these controls for further evaluation and testing.
- Issue Documentation
- Draft detailed issue documentation that captures significant findings, ensuring clarity and comprehensiveness for senior review.
- Testing Coordination
- Define testing scripts and collaborate with development teams to execute them.
- Evaluate outcomes and report them to the manager for further review.
Role Requirements
- Attention to Detail
- A keen eye for detail, particularly concerning product-specific regulations and associated controls, is essential.
- Controls Testing Expertise
- A solid foundation in controls testing, including assessing design and operational effectiveness, is critical.
- AML/OFAC Knowledge
- Basic understanding or experience in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations is advantageous.
- Regulatory Knowledge
- A good appreciation of compliance requirements in India and APAC regions, including an understanding of local laws.
- Technical and Analytical Skills
- Proficiency in tools like Excel and SQL is preferred.
- Strong analytical and time-management skills to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Excellent communication skills to interact with stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Educational Background
- Relevant industry qualifications, a university degree in a related field, or an audit background will be considered.
